I think she is about 9 or 10 in the above photo.
My mum is the most wonderful person. Her and dad are still very young ... they go dancing every 2nd Saturday (and not old people dancing ... they get in there and do some pretty awesome rock and roll !!).
Mum and her family migrated to Australia from Germany in 1958 ... she was 10. Dad and his family followed the next year. They have known each other since she was 8 ... isn't that gorgeous !!

My parents are young too. I am 42 and my mom is 60, and my dad is 62. I feel blessed to have them.
We are also very close. It is the greatest gift we can give our kids, to love them dearly all their life, and give them a secure home in which to grow up.
I hope you spoil your mother today!!
Thanks, Jamie. My parents were over for dinner last night, and tonight we are all going out for dinner at a restaurant. I am about to head out shopping, to buy her something nice ... always a hard job, as she has everything.

I am in your parent's generation although I was older when our kids were born. I was 23 when I met Annie. We continue to love our children through the years but it is necessary to turn them loose to be their own persons. It is great when they choose to remain close to their parents, as you are doing.

Happy Birthday to your mum Meow and what a lovely post that was. I don't live near my parents anymore but we also email and talk everyday. It always makes me sad to read of people that have conflict with their parents and don't keep in touch anymore.

Clare ... thank you. It must be really difficult to be in conflict with one's parents ... can't imagine never talking to them again, for whatever reason.
Thank you everyone for your wonderful birthday wishes for my mum. She read most of them last night, and I said for her to read again this morning, in case there was anything new.
