How I Met My Hubby ...

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has signed my guestbook so far ... it's great, I love it ... more, please !!

Anyway, in the past few weeks, my posts have been pretty lame, just a bunch of cat pics, or a few blah words. Not sure why, but I haven't really known what to write. Still don't really !! So, I thought I would share with you all the story of how my hubby and I met ... here goes.

On New Years Eve, 1982, I was at a friend's place in Blackburn North, getting ready to party !! Her brother came in with some friends, to pick up some stuff, as they were on their way to Portsea (a coastal town, an hour or so from Melbourne, which is popular with teenagers at New Years). They were going to camp there, drink themselves stupid (as they all did back then), and have lots of fun !! Hubby (who wasn't, obviously, my hubby then) and I saw one another, and I guess something clicked. I liked the look of him, and apparently, he liked the look of me. He went off with his mates, and they partied in Portsea, whilst my friends and I had our own party ... but we held our first thoughts of each other in our minds (and hearts).

Roll forward a few days .... Hubby must have got my phone number from my friend's brother, as he phoned me (I was still living with my parents at this stage ... I had just finished high school, and was 18 years old, no drivers licence, no job yet). He asked me out on a date ... to the drive-in movies no less !!

Anyway, he picked me up from my place (hesitating slightly as he drove up the driveway, as he drove a souped up Ford Cortina station wagon, with curtains on the back windows, and a mattress in the back, LOL !). I think he was worried about what my parents would think !! So was I !!! He met my parents, who seemed to like him (as a matter of fact, they got to like him so much, that it was like the sun shone out of his nether regions !!), and we headed off to the movies.

All his friends (and some of mine, thanks to my friend who's place I was at when we met) were also at the drive-in, spying, waiting to see if anything would eventuate. Well, we were kinda shy at this stage ... I think we might of held hands !! I think the movie was good, we talked through a lot of it. I'm pretty sure we kissed goodnight at the end of the evening (aren't I bad, not to even remember this, or the name of the movie, for that matter !!) ... and that was where it all began.

About four years later we got engaged. In 1987 we bought our house, which was ready for us to move in by December 1987. In December 1988 we finally got married (yes, we lived in sin for a year ... tisk, tisk, tisk, I hear you say !!). Then in April 1994 we had our first (and only) child ... who you all know as Chicky.

It has been a wonderful marriage so far, with many, many more happy years to come, I am sure. He is an amazing man, totally devoted to Chicky and I (as we are to him). He is a tremendously hard worker, which has enabled me to be a stay at home mum since 1993 (although for a few months now I have had a part time job, as most of you know). We love doing the same things, like camping, 4WDing, and stuff like that, although there are other things we like doing apart (like my craft and stuff, and his "boys" stuff !). We are a match made in heaven, I feel !! I couldn't have asked for a better partner in life.

This is a photo of the two of us, back in the early days of our relationship ... ain't we cute !!

And this is one taken more recently ... last year sometime, I think (we don't often get many photos together, as I'm usually the one holding the camera ... I think my mum took this one).

So there you go, a brief history of Meow and Mr. Meow.

How did you and your partner meet ?? I'd love to hear about it.

Enjoy your Friday, and upcoming weekend, dear blog-friends.

Oh, yeah, as I mentioned in an earlier post, if anyone would like to have a chat with me on MSN, my address is wolfgirlkitty@hotmail.com ... hopefully we can connect some time ... I'd love to catch up, if you are intersted.

Take care,

Purr-fection

I found this lovely poem, whilst scouring through cat websites. It's quite cute, and lovely. Hope you enjoy it.

When God created kitty cats,

He had no recipe;

He knew He wanted something sweet,

As sweet as sweet could be.

He started out with sugar,

Adding just a trace of spice;

Then stirred in drops of morning dew,

To keep them fresh and nice

He thought cats should be soft to pet,

Thus he gave them coats of fur;

So they could show they were content,

He taught them how to purr.

He made for them long tails to wave,

While strutting down the walk;

Then trained them in meow-ology,

So they could do cat-talk.

He made them into acrobats,

And gave them grace and poise;

Their wide-eyed curiosity,

He took from little boys.

He put whiskers on their faces,

Gave them tiny ears for caps;

Then shaped their little bodies,

To snugly fit on laps.

He gave them eyes as big as saucers,

To look into man's soul;

Then set a tolerance for mankind,

As their purpose and their goal.

Benevolent ... and ... Generous,

He made so many of them;

Then charged, with fatherly concern,

The human race to love them.

When one jumped up upon His lap,

God gently stroked its head;

The cat gave Him a kitty kiss,

"What wondrous love," God said.

God smiled at His accomplishment,

So pleased with His creation;

And said, with pride, as He sat back,

"At last. . .I've reached purr-fection!"

Have a great day ...

CATS ON TUESDAY #14

It's been a while since I did a Cats on Tuesday, and this one won't be a big one !!

I just wanted to share a few pages from my cat perpetual calendar, which I though were cute. Enjoy ...

Hmmm, seems like I scanned them a bit crooked ... oh well !!

Hope you have a great day.

Another weekend, and a meme ....

Hello, everyone, I hope you are all well.

My week has, once again, been pretty busy (as you have probably guessed, by my lack of posting here-on !!). It has been a good week, though. I hope yours was, too !!

It's Hubby's birthday tomorrow (Sunday), so it should be a great weekend. As I type this, Chicky and I are just getting ready to go to her game of netball, then off to my parents for lunch, then a spot of shopping, then home for housework (what fun), and a bit of blogging !!

Chloe sent out a challenge with this following meme. It is a nice one, and I ask any of you to also do this one, if you would like to. Thanks, Chloe !!

1. The phone rings; whom do you want it to be?
The people from Tattslotto, telling me I've won "the big one" !! Other than that, anyone of my favourite people would be nice.

2. When shopping at the grocery store, do you return your cart?
Usually, especially if I need to get my coin back !! (I have been know to leave it beside my car, on occasions, though ... but only if it is not in anyone else's way !!)

3. If you had to kiss again the last person you kissed, would you?
Of course, I love to kiss my Hubby, anytime.

4. Do you take compliments well?
Sometimes, depending on my mood.

5. Do you play Sudoku?
No, I have never gotten into it. Prefer crosswords or word-searches.

6. If abandoned alone in the wilderness, would you survive?
I think so, so long as I could find water.

7. Do you like nipple rings?
Eeewww, no, they look painful.

8. Did you ever go to camp as a kid?
Always !! I went on shool camps, and my family always went camping, every chance we got. Still do, to this day.

9. If a sexy person were pursuing you, but you knew he/she were married what would you do?
Nope, I believe in marriage, and would never want to come between a man and his wife.

10. Could you date someone with different religious beliefs than you?
I'm not a really religious person, so I guess that wouldn't be a problem, so long as they wouldn't push me to conform to his ways & beliefs.

11. Do you like to pursue or be pursued?
Back in my single days, both were fun !!

12. Use three words to describe yourself at the moment: happy, content, smiling

13. Do any songs make you cry?
Not really

14. Are you continuing your education?
I believe one should never stop learning. I am always on the look out for a new course to do. At the moment, it is web design !!

15. Do you know how to shoot a gun?
Only in the name of sport.

16. If your house were on fire, what would be the first thing you grabbed?
Apart from my family (who would hopefully be safely outside already), I would grab my cat, my photos, and my computer.

17. Who was the last person you shared a bed with?
My hubby and my cat (although technically, the cat isn't a person ... I know !!).

18. Whom do you text the most?
Probably my daughter !!

19. Favorite children’s books?
Oooh, too many to choose from. I love all the Enid Blyton stuff.

20. What do you buy at the movies?
Apart from my ticket (!!!), I get popcorn, diet coke, and some M&Ms.

21. Do you know how to play poker?
Sure do.

22. Do you wear your seat belt?
Always ... I won't start my car without it being on.

OK, that's all for me at this point. Hope to be back here again soon.

By the way, I would love it if could please sign my guestbook (above) ... I think it's pretty cool. Thanks.

UPDATE ... if anyone is interested, I have (finally) set up a Windows Live Messenger account, so if anyone is up for a chat at anytime, my address there-on is wolfgirlkitty@hotmail.com. Hope to catch you on there sometime !!

Take care,

OMG, It's Sunday Already !!

Don't seek to merely get rid of the negative things in your life. Instead, transform their energy into something of real positive value.
--Ralph Marston--

I've been tagged by Puss In Boots ...

Here are the rules:

Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves.
Then they need to tag seven more people to play. Don’t forget to leave them a comment that they have been tagged and to read your blog!

Here are my seven random facts:

1. I hate wearing socks and shoes.
2. I am obsessed with stationery ... you should see me when I enter an office supplies shop !!
3. I love my family ... they are the most important things in my world.
4. I have never lost my drivers licence (although I have lost the odd point here and there for speeding !!)
5. I'm not a big fan of driving at night, particularly on unlit roads, and when it is raining !!
6. I am rarely ever late when I go somewhere ... as a matter of fact, I am usually way early !!
7. I hate gardening.

There you go, that's my seven facts ... now, who to tag ??? It has taken me so long to do this tag, everyone has probably done it. I'll leave it up to yourselves to choose to or not to do this tag ... how's that !!

Now, on with a regular post ...

Since I last wrote (last Monday), I have had a busy week (as I itemised in that post !!). Dad's birthday went well, I ended up buying him a couple of shirts (he loooooves new shirts !!). I think he liked them !! The funeral was lovely, although very sad. I felt totally drained by the end of the day, and had an early night (which, these days, is sooo unusual for me). I have spent the better part of this weekend on the computer (for some reason, a friend suggested I set up a MySpace ... so I did !! As if I haven't got enough to do with the blogging !!!). I am now, hopefully, going to come around and visit all your blogs.

We have had some wonderful, long overdue rain, this past few days. On the drive to Mansfield on Friday, it was lovely to see the amount of water everywhere. All the farm dams are filling, and the run-off is wonderful. I think Lake Eildon received 46mm on Friday ... whoo-hoo. Here's hoping it continues.

I don't have a lot planned for the up-coming week (other than working Wednesday and Friday). Hopefully I will be able to spend a bit more time blogging. It is Hubby's birthday next Sunday, so I need to think of what to get him ... hmmm, another difficult one !!

Anyway, that's enough for me.

Hope you all have a wonderful week, and enjoy the remainder of your weekend.

Till next time ...

Take care,

Meow's Week ...

Hello Everyone,

I hope all you mums out there had a wonderful Mothers Day yesterday (that is, if you celebrated Mothers Day yesterday ... we, here in Australia, did !!).

I had a wonderful day. I had a sleep in, then parked myself on the couch for a couple of hours and watched telly (Little House on the Praire, Brady Bunch, Who's The Boss ... all the fun, old shows !). It was nice, Hubby was asleep (he had worked a night shift overtime on Saturday night), and Chicky had a sleep in, too !! I had the TV all to myself, and no-one to bother me !!

We went out to lunch with my Mum and Dad (Hubby's parents passed away back in 1999). We went to a restaurant called "Lazy Moe's". OMG, the size of the meals is huuuuuge ... almost too much to actually get through ... we sure did try, though !! The food is really yummy, too, and there are so many things to choose from. I sure will be going there again, it was great. This time around I had Chili Con Carne ... yummy !! I haven't had this in ages, as Hubby doesn't really like hot food, and neither does Chicky, so I'd have to eat it all by myself (I guess that's not too bad, really !!). Mum, Dad & Hubby had grilled fish, and Chicky chose a bowl of Potato Wedges. It was all just wonderful. The dessert / cake was superb, too !!

I worked today, but it was only a short day ... 9 until 1.45pm ... not too bad !! Came home, did some laundry (I'm sure the dirty washing multiplies when I turn my back !!), cooking, and now blogging !!

Tomorrow (Tuesday) I am going shopping ... it's my Dad's birthday on Wednesday. Gosh, I really don't know what to get him. Any ideas !?!?! After shopping, I am heading over to a dear friend's place, to catch up. We don't get to visit very often, due to our busy lives. I love her dearly, and really enjoy the chin-wags (chats) we have. Tuesday night I am off to a Tupperware party (one of my friends booked it at my party, and I want to support her ... that's what friends do, isn't it ... besides, I'm sure there is something else I want to buy !!!)

Wednesday is another work day, then over to Mum and Dad's in the evening to celebrate Dad's birthday.

Thursday ... grocery shopping, housework, laundry, etc., etc., etc.

Friday will be a sad day. We are off to a funeral. My cousin's wife's Mum passed away on Mothers Day, and her service is on Friday morning. We need to drive to Mansfield (about 20 minutes away from Bonnie Doon ... about 2 1/4 hours from home), as the funeral will be held there. I will be going with my parents, as Hubby will be sleeping (night shift) and Chicky will be at school. I guess I am representing my family !! It will be a long day, with a lot of travelling.

So, that's my upcoming week.

Do you have much planned ???

Take care,

Friday Night and All's Well ...

It's been a fairly boring week in the world of Meow. Nothing much has happened, other than the usual (housework, laundry, ferrying child from A to B, cooking ... you know the score !!). I worked 2 days ... Wednesday and Friday. I did a bit of shopping (bought myself a Mothers Day present, and one for my mum, too, of course !!). Other than that ... not much !!

I'm about to join Bambi on the couch (see photo above !!), and watch a bit of TV. (Poor little thing, she was mugged not once, but twice, by evil Max cat over the road ... fortunately, no wounds that we can see ... lucky !!)

Just wanted to wish all you mums out there a HAPPY MOTHERS DAY. I'm guessing that you all have Mothers Day this Sunday, as we do here in Australia. I hope your children and family spoil you all rotten, and give you breakfast in bed, and lots of fun pressies !!

Hope it's a good one.

Hugs to you all ...

Take care,

Another Weekend Is Over ...

It's the heart afraid of breaking
that never learns to dance.
It's the dream afraid of waking
that never takes the chance.
It's the one who won't be taken,
who cannot seem to give,
and the soul afraid of dyin'
that never learns to live.
--Bette Midler--

It's Sunday night, almost beddy-byes time for me. It has been a good weekend ... an extremely lazy day today ... nice (other than cleaning out my plastic/Tupperware cupboard, and some laundry !!). Saturday was quite busy ... Chicky's netball in the morning, housework and preparations for visitors, then a very successful Tupperware Party. I had a couple of wonderful friends book their own parties, and with the great sales, I scored some brilliant freebies ... whoo-hoo !! I loooooove freebies !!

I spent some time today setting up Google Reader (similar to Bloglines, apparently), which hopefully will save me some time when it comes to visiting your blogs. At the moment, I actually visit every blog in my favourites to check whether it has been updated ... which can be quite time consuming, as I have quite a few blogs in my favourites !! I do have Blogrolling installed on my sidebar, but these days it rarely works for some reason, so that is no use to me !! As I was entering everyone's blog address, and subscribing to it (as is required by Google Reader), I didn't come across any that it didn't want to work for ... so I am quite happy about that. Now, all I need to do is remember to check out Google Reader first !!! (I have put it on my personalised Google Home Page, so it should be in my face when I go on the internet !!

Anyway, enough from me for now ... I need to go to bed !! I hope to catch up on all your blogs in the next day or 2 (I don't go to work until Wednesday at this stage, so I have some play time !!).

Hope your weekend has been a good one.

Have a great week.

Take care,

Lunch With Val ...

What a wonderful afternoon ...

It was lovely to finally meet Val, who I have been blogging with for quite some time (as many of you have, also.) . We had arranged to meet at noon, at the library near where we were to have lunch. We were worried about how we would find one another (and had jokingly discussed humming "What's New Pussycat" !!), but it turned out the library wasn't that big, and I found her, already browsing through the books (with some already selected) as I walked in. We took the opportunity to join the library (my old membership had lapsed) ... and of course, I also borrowed some books (being library and book fans is something we sure do have in common!!). We explored the cafe's until we found one that looked "just right" ... incidentally, it was the one the librarian had recommended to us. We had a lovely lunch, and chatted away, only stopping to eat (and then not always, on my part ... I think I talked with food in my mouth ... oops !! ... it's hard, when you've got so much to say !!!). It was interesting to discover what we had in common.

After lunch, we went and explored a couple of shops in the street ... one of them being a scrapbooking / paper / craft shop. Well, I managed to find a few (cat related, of course) things in there, to spend some money on. I could've gone mad, but restrained myself somewhat !!

We decided we just had to take a photo to mark the occasion, which was taken in a wind-swept carpark, with our cameras perched precariously on Val's mini tripod, on the bonnet of my car. You can see how windy it was by my "bad hair day" !!

It was fun to get to know someone personally, who I have spent some time reading about in her blog. Val is a lovely person .... I am really glad I got the chance to meet her.

I very much enjoyed the company ... thank you so much Val, for the great afternoon. I hope we can do it again sometime.

Take care,

Thundery Thursday ...

Hello Blog Friends,

It's Thursday night, 8.30ish, here in Melbourne. It has been a weird sort of day ...

This morning, whilst getting ready for the day ahead, the outside light looked very strange, sort of yellowy. Chicky and I went outside to look, and I just had to come back inside (at full speed, no less) and grab the camera, to take a few photos of what I saw.

The sky was strange, cloudy, and wild looking ...

I took these photos from the footpath, outside our property. They were all taken at the same time, from the same place, but facing in different directions ...

We were lucky enough to have strange clouds, blue sky, rainbows, and sunshine, all at the same time !!

The rainbow was a full rainbow, but was too big and close to get it all in one shot ...

It is often said that Melbourne has 4 seasons in one day ... but at the same time, at the same place !?!? Go figure !!

It actually rained on and off all day (which was wonderful), and was quite windy, although not particularly cold. We are now in our final month of Autumn, but haven't really had any exceptionally cold weather ... leading into Winter. I'm sure it's on it's way, though.

My working week is over ... I worked 4 days this week (and last week, and the week before). Considering I came from not working (outside the home) at all, then went happily to 2 days ... 4 ain't bad (although I really want to get back to 2 or 3 ... have Tuesday and Friday off, at least !!). Things will quieten down again soon, so I should get my wish !!

I have a lovely day coming up tomorrow (Friday). I am going to visit Mum & Dad in the morning, then I will be meeting up with a Blog Pal ... Val

Should be fun, we haven't met before, so hopefully will be able to recognise each other when we meet !! We will be having lunch at a lovely Nursery/Cafe in a nearby suburb, about half way between Val's place and mine. We both live in suburbs of Melbourne, but quite a distance from one another. I'm sure we will have a lovely time, with plenty to chat about ... I can see there are a few things we have in common !! I'll let you all know how it goes ... oooh, must remember the camera !!

My weekend is looking busy (again), too !! Chicky has netball on Saturday morning, then home to do some cleaning and preparation, as I am having a Tupperware Party on Saturday afternoon. My cousin has recently become a Tupperware demonstrator, and I am holding a party so that she can get her practice !! So far I have a few women coming (8 yeses, with a few maybes, and a few more no replies yet !!). Should be fun, anyway ... haven't had one of these party plan things for a few years !!

On Sunday Chicky has a netball Round-Robin, where they play numerous games throughout the day, until two teams make the grand final. They did really well last season, and won the grand final ... hopefully they will do ok this season (they are in a different section this season, and the games are a bit tougher).

I have gotten through many of your blogs, visiting and commenting ... still a few to get to ... sorry if I have missed you !! I will get there eventually !!

I would like to wish you all a wonderful weekend.

See you soon ...

Take care,
