Friday Again ...

Hello Friends,

Yep, it's Friday again (at least it is here, already ... perhaps it is still Thursday, as you are reading this, for those of you not in Australia !!)

My week has been OK, fairly quiet, but somewhat busy, none-the-less. I haven't had a lot of computer time, so haven't done my regular visit to all your blogs. This will happen shortly, so wait for me, I will get there !!

Just an update (for those of you who may be interested) on my kitty, Bambi. I had to take her to the vet last night, as she had begun limping again, and there was a soft squishy lump near her war-wounds. I figured it was probably an abcess forming, and thought it would be better to catch it early, before it did anymore damage. Well, I was right, it was a small abcess, which was already draining a little. The vet opened it up further, squeezed out a heap of puss (eeewwww!!), gave her a couple of injections (antibiotic, and anti-inflammatory), charged me $86, and sent us home with 10 days worth of antibiotic tablets !! I need to keep an eye on it, so that it doesn't close up too quickly and reform, but the vet thinks it should be OK. I am so annoyed with the cat over the road ... he is costing me money again (we spent a fortune on vet bills with our other cat, who also used to fight with him !!) ... but there is nothing really we can do, without causing problems with the neighbours, which is something I really don't want to do. Unfortunately, cats will fight, it is in their nature. Enough said !!

There was a magnificent sunrise this morning, but guess which silly bunny forgot to take a photo of it to show you all ... yep, that would be me !! Oh well, next time !!

I have received a couple of emails lately about ageing ... I wonder if people are trying to tell me something. I am only 41 for goodness sake. Anyway, I thought I would share them with you. (If they are too hard to read, try clicking on them, and hopefully they will come up for you bigger!) Here goes ...

Just in case you weren't feeling "too" old today, this will certainly change things.

The people who started university this year across the nation were born in 1987.

Star Wars is older than them.

Their lifetime has always included AIDS.

Bottle caps have always been screw off and plastic.

They have always had an answering machine.

They cannot fathom not having a remote control.

They have always had CD's, never records.

Ray Martin has been on Channel 9 their entire life.

Popcorn has always been cooked in the microwave.

They never took a swim and thought about Jaws.

They can't imagine what hard contact lenses are.

They don't know who Mork was or where he was from.

They do not care who shot J. R. and have no idea who J. R. even was.

McDonald's never came in Styrofoam containers.

They don't have a clue how to use a typewriter.

Do you feel old yet? (Sorry) Pass this on to the other old fogies on your list. Notice the larger type, that's for those of you who have trouble reading.

Oh well, I guess that's all for me for the time being. Oh yeah, I forgot ... I got another postcard yesterday. Pop on over to my Postcard Blog to have a look at it ... either click here, or go via the link on my sidebar.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Take care,

MEOW

Yeah its no good when your pets are not well. snoopy my dog had an abcess in his scent gland and that was not a nice vet visit to get that squeezed. he had antibiotics as well. and to keep the area clean for a few days i could not bandage it so he wore starter pull-up toddler pants, with finding nemo pattern on it. poor little thing but it was funny. back to big brother. just wondered if you remember last year a male housemate was massaging giannas shoulders and he got his old fella out and i was wondering why didn't he get escorted out of the house.

Tab ... Yes, Bambi will be fine. You are lucky your old girl is safe and sound at home. My girl is only a year and a half, and loves to explore ... oh well, I'm sure the vet will get rich from me !! I'll be over shortly to look at the birdies.

Bossy Britches ... thank you.

Bethany ... I can just picture your dog with pull-ups on ... what a hoot !!

Take care, friends ... Meow

My 11 year old came in while I was giggling over Cat in the Hat and had to show off her reading skills.

Especially the last line. She thinks we grownups are so silly.

Love your 'Cat in the Hat"!

Yes, it worked for me - I'm now feeling quite old :P
I hope your cat gets better soon - their immune system is already prepared to deal with those things. Even my dog got into fights, he looked like ... I can't really describe it - it was a mess, and then he was fine.
Have a good weekend!

Hello Meow ~~ I hope your cat is OK. Your Olds Post is good
The kids today live in a different world. At least they have heard of Elvis. Thanks for your comments, I don't know how Hitchcock had no belly button, sounds impossible. Have a great weekend, Take care,Merle.

Happy to read that your Bambi is well off on the road to recovery and I'm sure she will "feel the love"!

If you're old, than I'm soon to be ancient! Have a great weekend!

I will be 43 soon. I guess to some people (teens and kids) I am old, but to others, I'm still a young lass.
Have a nice weekend.

i'm sorry about your kitty! why is the cat across the street so obnoxious? is he neutered? it's a cruel thing to say but if he is such a threat to everybody he should be.
You are a little girl still. Your blog is pink for god's sake! No worries about that.

That was a great list! Yep, I feel OLD!!!! I remember the days before remote control TV - I think it was a bad invention. We'd probably be watching less TV if weren't so easy to switch channels!

Meow (aka Connie) said...

Jon Cox ... thank you so much, your work is amazing.

Tigersan ... teehee.

Granny ... maybe she's right ... we grown-ups can be very silly ... but isn't it wonderful !!

Michelle ... thank you.

Devil Mood ... thank you. Animals are incredible when it comes to pain and stuff ... their leg could be half hanging off, or something else really really nasty, and they'd still come running and play !! I wish humans were as tough !!

Merle ... thank you. It's funny, I never thought of myself as being old ... I don't really feel any different than I did at 21 (but, boy do I LOOK different !!) ... but then you read something like that ... my goodness !!

Susie ... thank you, and I'm not really paranoid, just don't know if I want to inflict myself on people !! Be my guest to borrow Dr Suess !!

Stinkypaw ... thank you. Age is just a number, isn't it. It's how you feel that's important !!

Connie ... thank you. You say the sweetest things !!

Jean-Luc ... tee-hee !!

Saur ... happy birthday for next week. So, did you read the post, or not ??

Jamie ... it's funny how we are perceived differently by different age groups / generations !!

Chloe ... thanks. I don't think he is neutered ... but he should be. And he needs to be locked inside at night ... he fights with all the neighbourhood cats. He is so very territorial. And, yeah, I guess if someone doesn't know me, and looks at my blog, they would think I was still a kid, going by the color pink, and all the pretty things ... I like that thought !!

Barbara ... I remember the days before colour TV !!! How old does that make me feel !! We got colour TV later over here than you guys did !!

Thank you, everyone, for your great comments. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Take care, Meow

ooooooooh, I feel old, I feel old!
I shall wear my trousers rolled!
(with apologies to T.S.Eliot...)

I was about to tell you that 41 is hardly old, when you sprang that wretched 1987 tidbit of information, and made me feel ancient! Poop!

Meow (aka Connie) said...

Peg ... thanks for the multiple messages !! She is coming along fine ... even letting me shove the tablets down her throat, without kicking up too much of a fuss !!

Coxford ... sorry, haven't been over yet to comment ... soon, I'll be there, soon !!

Kimber ... hahaha ... isn't it terrible how old one feels on reading that one !! I feel like I should have a walking stick and be on a pension !!

Take care, Meow

Hey Meow,
Oh your poor puss , what a sin , the poor thing , must be feeling yucky , and now has meds for 10 days , does she take pills well? Our Chloe just finished a couple days ago and she is hateful trying to give pills too ,and sneaky , waiting till I let her go ,walk away and then spit it out , hope you have better luck. And they cost alot to go to the vet but if you have pets you have to take care of them , that is what you and I think , too bad your neighbour with the bully cat doesnt share that view . Sorry to hear ,hope she is chasing mice soon :},
Hugs friend

I hope Bambi heals OK. Alex has war wounds, too. For the past few days—after what must have been a hellicious all-night ramp last Thursday—he’s decided to remain indoors to rest and recover.

Hope u having a great weekend.

Greeneyes ... thank you, Bambi is doing great, running around like a mad-cat again, getting up to all sorts of mischief. She is fairly easy to get tablets into, fortunately. Chicky holds her, and I grab her head (in the proper manner !!), and shove the tablet down her throat !!! The last 4 have gone in first go, I only had to repeat one once !! Not bad, huh !! She doesn't really care too much, and usually goes straight to her food bowl and eats (probably to get rid of the taste!!). Sorry to hear Chloe gave you such a hard time. Our last cat refused, point blank, to take tablets. I had to get paste, then hubby and I had to hold him down, whilst I squirted the paste into his mouth ... at least that way he got some down, although he usually spat out some !! Cats can be so naughty !! Hugs to you too, friend.

Traci ... hi, and thanks for visiting. Scary, isn't it, when you can remember those dang styrofoam containers .. they looked really nice, but oh-so bad for the environment.

Nick ... thanks, and I hope Alex recovers. Naughty cats, what makes them think it is so cool to fight ... and they don't ever learn, no matter how old they are (my last cat was 16, and still got in fights !!).

Reverberate ... welcome back, hope the holiday was wonderful. And another one shortly, wow, you are lucky !! I hope the next one is exciting, too.

Heidi ... thank you, and they are.

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.

Take care, my friends ... Meow
