The Morning After A Long Weekend ...

Hello Friends !!

I wonder whether Blogger will behave himself today, and let me post. According to a couple of comments on my Friday's post, he has been misbehaving over the weekend ... I guess it was lucky I wasn't here to blog, as I wasn't in the mood to get frustrated by Blogger !!!

Anyway, I just wanted to tell you about my weekend, and share a few photos.

We left Saturday lunchtime (Hubby was on night shift, so needed to have a few hours sleep first). It was pretty foggy for most of the drive, but the traffic was light, so the trip went fairly quickly.

A View From the Car

We arrived at our van at Bonnie Doon, turned on the heating, unpacked, and went wandering to socialise with the friends who we hadn't seen since our last visit. It was great catching up. That evening there was a "P" party, which was heaps of fun. I wasn't very original ... I went as a Pink Press Photographer (I wore a pink top, hat, and hung a camera around my neck !!!). Hubby went as a Printer (which he is ... so all he had to do was put on work clothes !!) Chicky went as a Party Princess (pink clothes, makeup, a tiara !!). It was a great night, lots of laughs.

Sunday started out windy, so no fog for a change. We decided to go out for a drive in the lake bed (the lake is down to 22% at present, so plenty of places to drive). We headed in the direction of the Bonnie Doon bridge ... it is weird to be driving a car under it, rather than a boat !!

The Bonnie Doon Bridge

We tried crossing a creek, which ordinarily wouldn't have been a problem, but with the sun in his eyes, Hubby drove straight into a really boggy patch, and the car promptly sunk !! What to do, what to do !?!? The other cars had to find another way to cross, to get over to where were, in order to attach the "snatch strap" and get us out. Took a while, but finally we were out. I was worried, as it was starting to get dark, and I envisioned having to leave the car there until the next day.

Ooops !

Looking Over Lake Eildon

Sunday night, more socialising, drinking, talking ... same old, same old. A fun night, however. It was very cold, and although we usually have good heating, the reverse cycle heater / air conditioner decided to ice up, and we had no good heating (only little ones, that don't do alot!!). Had to wait until it defrosted, then all was OK again.

Monday was a sleep in, breakfast, then start to get everything together so that we could leave around lunch time. Hubby had to work Monday night, so he wanted to get home, unpack and have time to relax. We stopped for lunch on the way home. Arrived home around 3.30, unpacked, and did some washing (why is there always so much washing after a couple of days away !!!).

This morning I helped out in the Uniform Shop at school, then went to the library to return some books, grocery shopping, picked up the cat from the Boarding Cattery, now I am home, quickly posting, then back to the seemingly never-ending typing. I won't be able to visit and comment on all your blogs right now ... hopefully tonight or tomorrow ... I really miss you all. But, I will be back soon.

Oh yeah, did anyone catch the Australia V Japan soccer match in the World Cup ??? Go Aussies ... they won 3 to 1 ... yay !! Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oy, Oy, Oy !!

I have received another couple of postcards, but as yet haven't had a chance to scan them in. When I have, and have posted them in my Postcard Blog, I will let you know.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, and that the week ahead will be a good one.

Take care all,

MEOW

Yay, me!! I get to be first!! I had a busy weekend, too, Meow. I am checking in on my favorite blogs, then I am going to attempt to post something if Demon Blogger will allow me to. Love your pics, and it sounds like you had a good time. :-)

It's been hot here, upper 90's Fahrenheit, but a little cooler today, about 82 F.

Have a good week, Meow. ;-)

Winter camping is sure different from what it is in the summer. It sounds like a good time was had by all & it was a good way to spend a holiday weekend.

Nice pics except for the SUV. I thought they weren't supposed to do that.

Oops! Stuck! Hope you didn't find it difficult to get it out. Nice photos. Glad you enjoyed your stay.

Diane ... yay ... I never get first anywhere !!! I hope Blogger settles down and behaves, it seems everyone is having problems !! I hope you are enjoying the heat, it is so cold down here.

JB ... thank you. I thought you'd get a laugh out of the car stuck in the dirt ... didn't do any damage to the car, or the river bank ... it was only sandy soil.

Tab ...thank you, and you are welcome.

Dick ... thank you, it was a lovely weekend.

Susie ... it is a fabulous view, all year around.

Granny ... occasionally 4WDs do get bogged ... no damage done, though.

Have a wonderful week, take care, Meow

The photos remind me of when my family used to visit these places a long time ago, thanks for sharing. You are having the same water problems as us (lack of it0 great pics.

Sounds like a great weekend - and what a terrifc job on bogging the car! Looks very impressive!

Yay! I can comment here again, too!

:-)

I adore the photos. Especially the one with the bridge: the nature surrounding it is so big and impressive the man-made structure seems tiny and insignificant beside it.

At least, that's what *I* think, anyway. Could be just me. ;-)

Have a great day.

Just had to leave a comment to let you know I love the pictures.

Blogger has been acting up real bad that's why I've been playing around with wordpress to check it out.

Gail ... thank you, it is a lovely area. Yes, our water problems are pretty severe. Lake Eildon is not one of our drinking water catchments, it is for irrigation. However, our drinking water catchments are only in the 50s% somewhere. I imagine if we don't get some decent rain soon, we will be back to stage 3 restrictions by Summer.

Nicole ... thank you. It was a great weekend ... I needed it !! I think it is colder than usual, earlier, too. And we don't usually have this amount of fog, this often. Hopefully we will get some rain soon.

Megz Mum ... thank you ... you like the bogged car !?!? It was interesting, and nothing was damaged, so it was all good fun !!

DaybyDay ... thank you. There is some pretty impressive scenery around Bonnie Doon, and when the light is where it was the day we got bogged, the photos come up really differently than usual.

Alice ... thank you. I love the one with the bridge. I got some other, but this one was the most interesting, with the light illuminating the bridge.

Dawn ... thank you. I wonder what is wrong with blogger ... I hope we don't all have to migrate to another blog-package ... I'm quite comfortable here !!

Clare ... thank you. My week is busy so far, but not too stressful yet !!

Kyahgirl ... thank you. Back safe and sound !!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week. Take care, Meow

Hi Meow, blogger is gettin' hit with that stupid stick fairly regularally, couldnt do anything last night.
Good pics as usual, do I spy a winch cable coming from the front of th 4WD?
re soccer, by all means record the next match in case of a miracle, but we play Brazil, the world champs, so a win there is VERY unlikely, but then we get another chance so who knows?

Meow (aka Connie) said...

Peter ... yes, that is a winch cable, but the winch proved to be not quite strong enough, and the car only dug itself in deeper !! The snatch strap did the job, though !!
Hey, the Aussies might surprise us all against Brazil ... they all said the Japanese were too good for us, too !!
Have a great week, take care, Meow

That photo of the mountain from your room view is gorgeous! I'd love to wake up in the morning and have that out my window instead of my neighbor's rooftop! hehe.

I have been blogging a lot also which is why I didn't know that there was a kink with Blogger's comments :P

Hope all's well with you! Thanks for your sweet comment on my announcement :D

Chrixean ... thank you. The view of Mt Buller is stunning. At home, my view out of my windows are of the neighbours !!! Oh well !!

Kendra Lynn ... thank you. My hubby gets a kick out of stuff like that ... getting bogged didn't faze him ... he thought it was fun !!! He loves adventure, too.

Autumn ... thank you,it was a great weekend.

What beautiful pictures. Well, the truck thing, not so much so.....but the rest, WOW!

Meow (aka Connie) said...

Momyblogr ... thanks. The truck thing was OK, too ... just another challenge !!

Reverberate ... thank you. Going under the bridge was great fun ... I have a couple more photos I may post ... stay tuned !! I'm not too fussed about Blogger's slowness ... obviously they are having problems, I'm patient ... it'll be fine in the end !! I find when I write my post, it won't upload pictures, then I save as a draft, then open to edit, and upload my pictures, then post ... no problems. Although it will only let me upload one at at time ... perhaps they are too big when I saved them originally !! Oh well, I can wait, and do them one at a time !! I will do the postcards soon. I have got another one in the meantime !!

Take care, friends, Meow

Hi Meow ~~ Glad you had a good
weekend and the photos are great.
Glad you got a laugh at my blog. Still
haven't found anything I forget, but it could be my mind is going. Don't the weeks fly? It's Wednesday evening
already. Take care, Merle.

The photo of Mt Buller is fabulous. How full is Lake Eildon? It looks as though it has a decent amount of water in it.

Meow (aka Connie) said...

Merle ... thank you. Time is flying too quickly !! I love reading your blog.

Michelle ... thank you. Lake Eildon is only at about 22% capacity ... there is usually a lake under the bridge, now there is only a creek !!

Take care, Meow
