Sweet Saturday, and a Question For You ...

Chicky's team won netball this morning ... yay. They played like champions, were totally exhausted afterwards, but ecstatic that they won. They played the top team, too. Well done, girls.

Afterward, all 3 of us went round to my parent's place for lunch. It's always lovely going over there for Saturday lunch ... we have been doing it for years. My parents are going away in 11 days, on a trip to Germany for 7 weeks ... gosh I will miss them. But they will have a ball. They have so many friends and rellies over there, and plan to visit places they haven't ever been to. (You might not know, but my parents were both born in Hamburg, Germany, but migrated to Australia in 1958. Many things have changed over there since that time !!).

Chicky is currently at the movies, seeing Shrek 3 ... she was so excited, it looks like a wonderful movie. Can't wait to see it myself !!

I spent quite some time last night visiting everybody's (hopefully) blogs. I had over 150 posts (according to Google Reader) to read ... it's been awhile LOL. I think I got around to everyone. Huge apologies if I missed anyones blog ... please let me know if I have been remiss.

I have had an idea, and I hope you can help me with it ...

I would like to put together a CD (or 2 or 3!!) of songs which are your favourites (if that makes sense). I would like you to, if you want to, let me know via the comments, what is your favourite song of all time ... be it a current song, or something older, whichever one is cool ... and I will put them together as a My Favourite Bloggers All Time Greatest Hits compilation. Please make sure you tell me the song title, and artist, in case I have to go hunting for it. I have an extensive music collection, but there definately many things I don't have ... and if you have unusual tastes in music, chances are I won't have it (yet!). I would be ever so greatful if you would assist me with this project ... Thank you, you are all fabulous ... looking forward to your comments.

Anyway, that's about it for me for this post.

I hope you are all having, or will have, a brilliant weekend.

Take care,

I'm sure your parents will have a fabulous time in Germany. Summer in Europe, how beautiful. I love the German villages - so quaint with beautiful window-boxes. You'll love looking at their photos on their return.

Hey Meow, wish your mum and dad bon voyage from me...I bet they have a wonderful time.

What a lovely idea to compile a Bloggers' CD. I have no problem with my favourite song of all time. It's "Memory" by Barbra Streisand, from the musical "Cats". I've had lots of favourites over the years, but that one wins hands down. I would like to buy a copy of the CDs if are going to sell, so you can put my name down for one (or 2 or 3). If it's just for you, don't stress about copying it...it's a lovely idea.

Alice ... thank you. They went to Germany 2 or 3 years ago, and had a wonderful time. This time they have a digital camera, an hopefully will take many more photos.

Puss-In-Boots ... thanks, I will pass on your greetings. I have emailed you about the CD. Thanks for contributing a song. Barbra Streisand is always popular. I have noted your song ... hopefully there will be quite a few more LOL.

Take care, Meow

I have cousin's that lived in Germany for 13 years. The husband was stationed there for the army...the wife is German. I don't see them very often though. Maybe once every couple of years, seems I see them even less now they live stateside again then I did when they were overseas!

As for favorite songs...there are SO many...but I will go with:
Between the Bars by Elliott Smith and ALl I Want is You by U2.

Hi Meow,
I've enjoyed reading your blog. Love the music and the cats. Congatulations to your daughter's netball team. You have a great mix of things, I don't think I will ever get bored of visiting you. BTW My all time favourite song is; Seasons in the Sun. It was a one hit wonder for Terry Jacks in the 1970's.

What a good idea, collecting everyone's favorite songs, but oh so difficult to decide which one.

My favorite female singer is Tina Turner, so I'll go with "Addicted to love". In her shows her entrance onto the stage for that number was nothing less than sensational.

Second and third choices: "Steamy windows" and "Can't stand the rain".

How nice for your parents to go to Germany ! It has not changed it's completely different ! Even I away since 59 and having been there quite often don't recognize the today's Germany anymore ! They will have a lot of fun !

For the song, I love very much Freddy Mercury's song "the show must go on"

Hi Everyone, I won't reply to you all individually this time ... sorry.
What a great bunch of songs you have given me ... I have probably 3/4 of them, and have found the others.
Just waiting a few more days, to see if anyone else wants to suggest any, then I'll put them together and see what happens.

Thank you everyone, you are all wonderful.

Have a great week.

That is so awesome about Chicky's team winning!!! Congrats on the celebration!! Sounds like your parents will have a blast in Germany. Hmmmm, I listen to a lot of Celtic music, but my all time fave artist is Loreena McKennitt. I have all her cd's. If I had to pick just one of her songs, ....thats to hard, lol!!
Ok, I'll say Incantation. It's the first song on her latest cd called 'An Ancient Muse'. All her music is wonderful. Take care and have an excellent week. Much blessings sent your way!!!!!

What a great idea on the blogging CD! There are so many for me...I love the old standards...anything by Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett, Johnny Mathis...
love the Cole Porter tunes, like Begin the Beguine. (No, I'm not that old, I just love old stuff!) :)

Have a great week, Meow! :)

My daughter took me to see Shrek 3 for Mother's Day -- we LOVED it! -- we sat right to the end of the credits, as we ususally do, and the ushers come clanking around with their brooms, but she wanted to know who was singing one of the songs (can't remember which now)

...good idea, about the songs, but i have too many favourites; but let me try these "Leila" and one by George Harrison, i can't remember the title, i will have to hunt it down.

later,
pj

p.s. - AND OF COURSE, What's New Pussycat, by Tom Jones, which i sorely missed when my computer was down, and had to come over to get my "fix" now. hah hah

I hope your parents have a great trip. I know you'll miss them, but just think of all the wonderful stories they'll have when the get home.

One of my favorite songs is really a very silly song. It's called Kung Fu Fighting by Carl Douglas. It's a silly song that I just fell in love with at our conference the year before last that a band played. It just makes me think of the fun we all had out there being silly :)

Hope you're having a great week :)

Thanks again, everyone, for all your great song suggestions. I have noted them all, and have found them all (except Leila ... PJ, which Leila is this one ??)
I will put it together in the next week.
Take care, hugs to you all, Meow

OMG Connie, you have no idea how OLD I felt while looking through all those songs suggested...I barely recognised half a dozen names there! I doubt very much if my kind of music would fit in with them! My taste is more to classical music, so on the lighter side of that, try Gershwin's Rhapsody In Blue which usually brings tears to my eyes.

Lynne said...

Meow I have so many favorites. Rod Stewart's "Forever Young", anything by The Beatles, I guess "The Ywo of Us" is one of my favorites from them. George Harrison's "My Sweet Lord"
