The Picture I Painted ...

As an addendum to yesterday's post, here is a (rather badly taken) photograph of the picture I painted. It was hard to get a good photo, as the flash kept bouncing back off the varnish, and if I didn't use the flash, it was blurry !!

Anyway, the foreground (what looks black) is actually varying shades of black and umber.

The picture was painted on canvas board, with Jo Sonja acrylic paints. It still needs to be framed, but you get the general idea from it here !! Believe me, it looks better in reality, thank in this photo !! Oh yeah, I should tell you, I used a pattern and instructions from a Folk Art magazine to create this picture ... although I made some changes to it, to make it more mine !!

Now I'm hunting through Folk Art & Decorative Painting magazines and books, trying to find my next project (although I still have one more cat coaster to do ... see the other 5 on my Craft & Stuff blog).

Hope your Monday has been (will be, or is !!) a good one.

Take care,

It _is_ hard to take a picture of a shiny surface. -sigh- But it still looks great and I'm sure, is even more great, in person so to speak.

Hi Meow, great painting you should try photographing it in daylight where you wouldn't need a flash.

I just love that picture, the Aussie theme and the fact that it's largely in sillouette(sp?). Well done!

Have you done any printing since the workshop? I bought some Josonya paints and other stuff and have been printing out lots of giraffes and martinis. Nice combo, eh?

Just to clarify ... I didn't paint this picture from my own ideas !! It was out of a book, with a pattern, which I traced off onto the board, then painted according to instructions. Although, as I said, I modified it a bit. I wish I could paint from scratch ... that is still some way in the future !!

Nicole ... thank you.

Puss In Boots ... thank you, and I hope you are doing OK. Hugs

Jeanette ... thank you.

Smilnsigh ... thank you.

Peter ... thank you. I thought about photographing it in daylight, but it was dark before I thought of it !!!

Pea ... thank you. Believe me, painting such a painting, using instructions and such, is quite easy ... it has to be, if I can do it !!

Devil Mood ... thank you.

Justine ... thanks. We hope to!!

Silverneurotic ... thank you.

Greeneyes ... thank you. I might have to send you some magazines ... it is great fun. The chat was excellent fun ... must do it again !!

Connie ... thank you.

Val ... thank you. No, I haven't done any printing ... look forward to seeing yours.

Dawn ... thank you.

DaybyDay ... thank you.

Hope you are all having a great week.

Take care, Meow

Gosh Meow, you are too honest...after all those compliments, I would have kept my mouth shut about it not being original - LOL! Seriously, you have done an excellent job of it. Remember those paint by number kits? I used to love doing those when I was a kid, but I don't know what happened to my works of art. Probably got tossed out when I was moving house at some stage. I would not have tossed anything out if it had been as good as yours though. I also love that silhouette effect. Works so well with the Aussie landscape.

What a beautiful painting. You are so talented. I love the others on your craft blog. Do you sell any of the stuff that you make? I paint things as well, but it's more for me to have at home. I do the same as you, look in a magazine, use a pattern, or just paint from eye. Have a terrific weekend!!!!

Congratulations that is a real nice picture. You know what I do when I take a picture of my paintings, I take them slightly from the side so the flash doesn't get on the painting. BTW I am back from Turkey I arrived home this afternoon and am happy to type on my keyboard instead of a turkish one ! That wasn't easy ! they had two different types of "i" and it took me 1/2h to find that out, I couldn't log in to my blog ! You should have seen the Internet Café full of men who looked at me as if I were ET in person ! A woman in an Internet Café ! Never seen ! and an "old" one on top of it !

Meow: It looks great. As a kid I always liked water colors, even though they are hard to work with!

Thank you, everyone, for your encouraging comments. I love to paint, although am hopeless at the freehand stuff, which is why I do the Folk Art type stuff.

Take care, Meow
