I Am Still Here ... Only Not Very Often !!

Hi everyone !!

Thought I'd better update my blog ... it has been long overdue. I think the last post was a Christmas one ... duh, it is now February 10 ... oops !!

We had a wonderful Christmas, and a great New Year, and 2009 has been pretty good so far.

In case any of you have been seeing the news reports on the devastating bushfires here in Victoria, and were wondering if we were OK ... well, we are !! Fortunately, we are in the suburbs, many kilometres away from the fires. Although, we are very familiar with many of the areas that have been devastated by the fires, and know people whose properties are still under threat from the fires ... please pray that they will be OK, and the fire will turn away from them. One of my blog and facebook friends is currently going through a horrendous time, as her brother-in-law has been missing since Saturday ... his property is within one of the areas devastated by the fires. My thoughts go out to all those people who have lost friends, family members, pets and/or property ... I really cannot imagine what they are going through. It is a terrible time for all, and so very tragic. It is all the more horrific when you realise that some of the fires were deliberately lit ...

A friend of mine posted the following pic on her Facebook, courtesty of the Herald Sun website (I think) ... thought I might share it too ...

The fire fighters, and emergency services personnel are doing an amazing job, in terrible conditions ... but this photo says so much more.

I'll try and blog more often, and I apologise once again for not visiting your blogs often enough. As I've said before, I do catch up on many of them via Google Reader, although don't always comment. If anyone is interested, here is my Facebook address ... http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=638705177 ... drop by, or add me as a friend ... I'd love to share another cyber world with you, too !!

Take care everyone,

I was wondering how you and your family are, glad to hear you're ok. I can't believe the enormity of that/those fires.

Connie I'm so glad you're ok. I wasn't sure where you lived in relation to the fires. To think that they were deliberately started is absolutely unbelievable.

Anyway, it's good to see you back.

So glad you popped in.

Thinking of you and hoping that the fires reduce soon. What a tragedy.

G'day Connie, nice to hear from you, the fires are all consuming ... in more ways than one.

Hi Connie,
Nice to see you back here - I was beginning to think you had deserted your blog in favour of your facebook!
The fires are awful. Ken's 96 year old Mum is living with us now, so I'm praying that we don't have to evacuate our house in a hurry - it would be very difficult.

I've been following the news about the fires. I knew you were in the suburbs of Melbourne and so far the fires haven't made it that far, but it's so tragic the damage and loss of life that's already happened. I just saw a news report that says that 180 people are confirmed dead and more are expected to be added.

I'm glad y'all are safe, but there are so many more still in danger and who have suffered property damage or lost loved ones. I feel so sorry for the wildlife and pets too.

Take care, Connie.

Love and hugs,

Diane

Thanks for the update here and via email. The pictures and video clips about the little Koala they've named Sam are great! There are a lot of them on U-Tube. Our local TV news tonight said she is doing well in her new home and now has a boyfriend, a male Koala who was also injured in the fire and taken to the same shelter.

It's good to hear your family are safe. Those fires are so horrific. It makes me sick that people would deliberately light them. The thing that makes me every more sick is that people are STILL deliberately lighting fires down there. You'd think they'd of seen how much pain and destruction it has caused. Those firebogs do not deserve to be a part of society.
