Sunday, Sunny Sunday!

Hi everyone,

It's a gorgeous, sunny, Winter's day here in Melbourne. The neighbours are mowing their lawns, the hubby is fiddling with his car, and the world is good.

I am sitting here, still with wet hair, having just finished my breakfast. That is not so weird, you may say, but it is just after 12 midday !!! Breakfast ??? Perhaps that should be brunch !!

I had an extremely lazy morning. I did awake at around 7.30am, but decided I wasn't getting up. I turned on the bedside light (it was still dark-ish outside), and picked up my book. Well, that was the end of me !! It was the last 1/4 of the book ... the best part, I think, of any book !! I couldn't put it down, and continued reading until 1/4 to 11. I finished it though ... it was wonderful.

Now, however, I feel a sense of let-down, or sadness. I get like that when I finish a good book. It's almost like losing a friend, when you shut the book for the last time. Does anyone else feel like that, or am I just crazy !?!?!

Anyway, it was a Barbara Delinsky book, titled Looking For Peyton Place. I have read quite a few of her books lately, and I really enjoy her writing. It isn't as in-depth or gory as my usual read (of the likes of Jeffrey Deaver, James Patterson, Kathy Reichs, Jonathan and Fay Kellerman, and others), but a good read non-the-less. She is very descriptive, and there is always some romance in her novels. I need to find more of her books, I think !!!

My morning wasn't quite as lazy as my daughter's. Chicky only awoke at 11.30am ... and only because the phone rang !!! What's with teenagers, and their sleep-cycles ?? We have school holidays at the moment, and she is up late in the evenings, watching DVDs and reading, and fiddling with the computer, so I guess that accounts for the late sleep ins. But, OMG, she could do that every day ... what a waste of a day, I feel !! It seems so many teenagers are like that though, according to other mums at work. I don't remember being like that as a teenager. I wanted to make the most of every day, getting as much out of it as I could. But, then, I wasn't a night owl, either ... I needed my sleep, and was generally asleep before 10pm. Boring, yes !! But I enjoyed my days !!

Hubby has been out in the garage since around 6.30am, fiddling with his car. He is on 4 weeks long service leave at the moment. He is spending his time pulling apart his car, and putting a whole new body on it. That's been done, now he has to put it all together again !! Why not buy a whole new car, you may ask !!! Well, he is really happy with the motor, running gear, and everything else on the car ... it was just that the bodywork was rusting away. His friend owns a motor wreckers, and they had gotten in an identical car to his, so they decided to just (simply !?!) swap bodies. Well, what a job !! But he is really enjoying himself. Oh well, I guess it keeps him out from under my feel ... LOL !!!

Hmmm, I guess that's enough from me for now ... 2 posts in the space of a few days is more than I've done in months !!! I had better get moving and enjoy this magical day.

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.

Until next time ...

Take care,

I must say that I myself am a night owl. My boyfriend is not and so he's always getting worried when I drive home late from his place...even thought I tell him not to worry.

Yes I love that when you read a book and it ends great...but then you realise it's finished...I get like that with good books...a couple of books I've read I've been disappointed at the end and have been happy to have it over with.

Lazy days are great!

Hi Connie, glad to hear all is well in your world. I, too, like Barbara Delinsky...especially for a light read. We have similar taste in books...I love James Patterson! Lots of murder and mayhem...wonderful.

Dear Connie ~~ Thanks for your comments, the wrist is fine and leaving it alone for now. I am so glad that you and your family enjoyed the time you spent here, and I hope the rest of your weekend went well too. I hope your Sweet and sour chicken turned out well. It can be cooked several ways, in frypan, oven or crockpot. Thank you so much for your lovely gifts ~ if anyone was naughty, it was you !! I may put another photo on showing Chicky and the lovely orchids tomorrow night. Our oldest
blogger, Olive passed away on Sunday, so I will put a quick one on about her.Take care, dear friend

connie, sunshine on a winter day does make you feel well lets say "alive" doesn't it.

I too find I want to read a book to its end only to find sadness in finishing must be something about a good book.

Thank you for your lovely comments about the high tea, I have been unwell since and this is my first chance to tell you it was so wonderful and looks like it could happen again next year...we will see (smiles)

Why doesn't he buy a new car??? Come on, Connie - don't you know men are from Mars and women are from Venus??!! I once showed Ken a metal steamer that had fallen to bits in the kitchen drawer. He disappeared into the garage for an hour or so, and came back with the steamer in working condition again. I said "That was a waste of time, they only cost $2 in Coles". I thought he was going to throw it at me! I never meant for him to fix the stupid thing, but being a bloke, he just had to try, didn't he!

yes, eating at 12 on a Sunday is DEFINITELY "brunch"!!

...Looking for Peyton Place...veeerrry interesting...i remember, when I was quite young, "Peyton Place" was the name of a t.v. show, in black and white it was...i'm very curious to know what your book is me if you have time.

It is summer here in Surrey, but the weather has been cool and rainy, i think we have seen the best of summer...i don't much care, i do not do well in extreme heat...but i have a balcony full of sun-loving plants now, so they will not be happy...

well, come over and see me sometime;
cheers for now,

Hello Connie :-) Isn't it great to lay and relax curled up with a good book. I agree with you about closing it for the last time, it does seem a little bit sad. Anyways, take care and have a wonderful day :-)
