The Concert Is Over ...

Well, Chicky's dance concert is over. It went really, really well. They had 2 performances ... one on Friday night, and one on Sunday afternoon. I went to both of them ... on the Friday I was there alone (well, there were others in the audience, of course, but not with me !!) ... and all our family and friends went to the Sunday one. Both concerts were wonderful, but the Sunday one was more finely tuned ... all the problems discovered during the Friday night show were ironed out, and it went perfectly !! The photo above was one of the only ones that worked out, unfortunately, other than a few that were taken at the end when all the kids were on stage for the presentations. Technically we weren't allowed to video, or use flash photography, and it was difficult to get a good shot, with the varying lighting, particularly when they were moving around the stage (which is what they tend to do when they are dancing !!). The photo shows the opening of Chicky's first dance, a tap number, to "These Boots Are Made For Walking". Her group were in a total of 4 dances, with wonderful costumes. I am so proud of my Chicky ... she just looks fabulous on stage (bit scary, really, as she looks quite grown up ... too grown up !!), and just loves being up there ... her face just shines with happiness.

Anyway, now that the dancing is over, we have our Monday nights back !! Monday nights are generally hectic in this household, with Chicky and me coming home from school around 3.40pm, quick change of clothes and feeding frenzy for a hungry Chicky, then out the door by 4pm for netball training, which goes until 5pm. Then jump in the car again, off to dance class from 5.30 until 7pm. Home again by 7.30, cook dinner, homework (for Chicky), me usually typing, etc., etc. ...... Get the picture !!! Yesterday it was wonderful, it was raining, so netball training was cancelled ... bliss !!

I have finally gotten into the typing I have been putting off due to having so much other typing to do ... the Grade 6 Yearbook for Chicky's primary school graduation. I really enjoy this sort of typing, as it is all about people I know, and it is interesting reading what the kids write about themselves !! I have a multitude of photos of all of the kids, which I need to edit in varying ways to include throughout the book. It is actually quite fun.

Our weather has become quite Wintery again ... it has been raining, but nothing particularly substantial. Apparently tomorrow (Wednesday) it is supposed to be only around 15ÂșC in Melbourne, with a chance of snow in the alps ... for goodness sakes, it is nearly Summer, what is going on !?!?!?!

I will leave it there, as I am going to do the rounds of all your blogs, before getting back to my typing.

Have a wonderful week.

Take care,

MEOW

hey there you "headless chook", great photo, i don't know why but i thought Chicky was a wee one, say about 5 or 6 years old, obviously not...well, it sounds like the show was wonderful...congrats to the mom of Chicky, without whom the performance would not have been possible, you being one of the chauffeurs! - ah...the joys of motherhood. oh speaking of mother hood, did anyone see Oprah, she had a wonderful guest who has deciphered "baby talk"...well we all knew that our babies had their very own language, no this young woman has got it down on tape, well a CD actually, which will be available via the Net very soon!

well, enough of my own burble.....
cheers for now, (from Chilly Canada) and thanks for the most wonderful Post, i really enjoyed reading about Chicky

I like the photo. It has a kind of unreal stage like feeling so is very fitting. Pat & I are planning to go to see Danny Vernon, the Elvis impersonator I like so well, next month when he is in our area again. Pat is a fan of the real Elvis but I think will really enjoy this show, too. She took me to a great play last Sat., a Dr. Seuss play called "Seussical the musical." But no photos were allowed.

They work so hard all year and they look great in there costumes.

Littlejen ... it is gorgeous seeing them on stage ... wow, your daughter's debut, how cool. My Chicky has been dancing since she was 3 !! But I still love it every year !! It would have been so bizarre if we had've been at the same place ... teehee !!

WOW!!! I think that is a great shot....would have enjoyed seeing it live. Sounds like you have a busy household. I can remember the days with my girls.....wouldn't trade those memories for the world though!!

Cheers!

Oh I wanted to mention...seems like you and I love the same kind of books.....see I knew there was more to our connection than being Leo's

Meow (aka Connie) said...

Qualicum RN ... thanks. It can be a busy household ... especially lately. There are only 3 of us (and a cat), but I drive here there and everywhere, enough for a family of 4 kids !!
I noticed the similarity in books and authors. I'm a Scorpio, though, not a Leo ... sorry !
Take care, Meow

I'm so glad that both performances went so well and I can just imagine how proud you all were of Chicky:-) I took dancing lessons from the time I was 4 until I was 15 and was in many performances...I remember getting the makeup slathered on for the stage and my mom having a fit when she saw how much older I looked! lol Great times! Sure does sound like a busy household...with my boys moved away now my time is my own and to tell you the truth...I'm enjoying it!!! lol Hugs xox

Meow you are having the same start to summer that we had and then it totally heated up and was almost unbearable some days as we don't have the air conditioning over here.

Now it's meant to be winter and it's still too warm for this kind of year and everyone is just wishing it would be cold. I hope we can all do something towards cutting this climate change if we can.

Anyhoo, Chicky's show sounds great and glad she enjoyed herself :). Hope all is well with you Meow.

Hi Meow. Glad that Chicky's concert went well and that you had a quiet Monday! I loved going to see my girls in their plays, concerts, musicals, etc. I was so proud of them.

As for your weather, I heard on the news today that some parts of Victoria had snow!! Come on, it's almost summer!

Hi Meow ~ So glad that the concerts were so successful and of course you were proud. Mondays were sure busy for you. The weather is ridiculous, snow in the middle of November at Ballarat and the Dandenongs. I hope you didn't cop any. Thanks for your comments, I daren't forget my list when I shop, so put it straight in my bag, once written. Another thing I can't forget is my walking stick. I get to the car occasionally and then remember.Take care, Love,Merle.

Meow (aka Connie) said...

Pea ... thank you. I guess it must be nice having your own time again ... I manage some of that occasionally !!

Clare ... the weather is so weird ... it snowed in the nearby hills yesterday ... it is nearly summer, how very odd !! I am doing great, thanks, Clare.

Puss-In-Boots ... thanks, it is great fun watching my daughter on stage, in the various concerts she has done. It is lovely. And yes, it has snowed in the nearby hills, yesterday ... strange weather.

Merle ... glad your shopping trip went well. I always manage to leave my list at home !! Fortunately, it didn't snow where I live, but it did hail a bit. And it was very, very cold !!

Take care, all ... Meow
