A Pleasant Sunday Drive

We went for a Sunday Drive today, just up into the Dandenong Ranges, nearby home. We went to Olinda Falls, which were quite pretty, but not much water was flowing unfortunately. This is just a view from the path on the way down to the falls.

The walk down to the falls was an easy one, but the walk back up ... well, let's just say that I discovered just how unfit I am !!! I think I need to do something about that, and soon !!

The trees in the Dandenongs can be veeery tall. I just love standing underneath one, and looking up ... makes me realise just how small we really are in the world !

There were beautiful tree-ferns along the path. This one must've been mighty old, to have grown to this height !!

We also drove up to the lookout at the top of Mount Dandenong, where they have newly renovated the Sky-High restaurant. Last time we were there it was quite derelict. Anyway, I forgot to take a photo of it, but this one is of the view of Melbourne. Unfortunately it was a bit hazy, but beautiful, none-the-less.

It was a lovely, if shorter than I anticipated, drive. The weather was glorious. We stopped for lunch on the way home.

I hope your Sunday was as pleasant as mine.

Take care,

MEOW

Wonderful Australia. I love looking at the photos.

I like your photos and it sure doesn't look like winter to me. If the weather here was that good in the winter I wouldn't even consider going farther south, especially with gasoline over $3 a gallon! Those macros from your yard are neat, too.

Those tree ferns look prehistoric!
Lovely :o)

Granny ... thank you. Australia is a beautiful country, it is a pleasure to live here.

Dick ... thank you. We have had a pretty mild winter, and as I have said, we never get snow where I live, only in the alps, which are about 3 1/2 hrs away from here. Lots of Victorians, however, do go north to Queensland in winter, to get away from the cold !!

Michelle ... they do, don't they. Thanks.

Take care, Meow

My Sunday is just starting! I hear hubby in the kitchen with the granddaughter while she colors. Soon he will be starting waffles. Me I get yogurt and fruit :(.

Your pictures are just wondeful. I have never seen a fern tree. Very pretty. And I like that the skyline is hazy. It adds a bit of different feel to the pictures. All just great shots.

You do good girl!

Devil Mood ... thank you, it is beautiful up in the ranges, still very much in it's natural state in the majority of places.

Fruitful Spirit ... thank you. I agree about the haze, it does add something different to the pictures. Mmmmm, the waffles sound yummy !!

Peter ... thank you. Good luck with the audio codes thingy !!

Heidi ... thanks. What a shame, no digi camera, hope you at least have a film camera !! Hope the holiday is going well.

Susie ... thank you.

Barbara ... yay, do move here, you'll love it. Sunday drives are wonderful ... shame they can only be once a week !!

Hope that all of you still on Sunday have a great one, and a wonderful week ahead.

Me Sunday was hot... we had to fix the AC ;) What lovely pictures :) Me wonders how old some of your oldest trees are... we don't have many old ones due to all the typhoons here.

Your post reminded me that I'm way overdue for a trip to the Dandenongs. (Did you have Devonshire Tea?).

Dad and I went up to the Sky High restaurant last year and were surprised how they've done up the place compared to the last time we were there. Yes, derelict was the right word for the way it used to be. That garden they planted must be coming along nicely too.

We got some rain, but not as much as you describe. I'm jealous! I think this year has been much drier than last year, unfortunately.

Meow (aka Connie) said...

PJ ... thank you so much.

Val ... no, we didn't do devonshire tea, but wanted to !! The garden maze they planted is due to open some time this year, but I don't think it will ... the trees don't look big enough. The rest of the gardens are beautiful, and they have cut back lots of the older trees so the view is amazing again !!! Yes, it has been lots drier this year. It has been raining most of the night here, though !

Take care, Meow
