A Postcard and A Poem

I received another postcard today ... only one this time !!

It's from another wonderful Aussie blogging friend ... Nicole ... who lives in Queensland. (Thank you Nicole ... it is a beautiful card.) The postcard shows some wonderful scenes depicting the contrasts of the blue Pacific to the Hinterland. There are some amazing beaches in Queensland, and these pictures show some along the Sunshine Coast. We went through most of these areas last year, on our big trip to Cape York. I can't wait to get up there again some time soon. My best friend, who I met when we were in high school together, lives near Caloundra ... I miss her so much. I wish we could see each other more often. It's amazing, though, as whenever we do see one another, it is like we have never been apart. That's true friendship, I think.

And now, for your amusement, here is another one of my little poems ...

It's raining,
It's pouring,
This weather is
Really boring !!

I can't go out,
I'll get soaking wet,
It's freezing cold
The sniffles I will get !!

It's only 5pm,
It's getting dark.
The cat is hiding,
The neighbours dog won't even bark !

I'm lucky, though,
It's warm inside.
I don't even want to go
Out in the car for a ride.

It's the last month of Autumn,
Winter's almost here.
The weather's changed dramatically,
It'll be a cold one, I fear.

It's Friday evening,
The weekend is here once more.
I hope you have a good one
Look after you and yours !!
Take care,

MEOW

Neat Meow. I think I missed yesterday so this comment covers all.

Love the ark and the woodpecker.

Have a great weekend. It's just turned Friday here on a beautiful spring day.

Madi ... thank you. I guess you are having the same weather as me !!!

Granny ... thank you. I hope you have a wonderful Friday, and enjoy your beautiful Spring weather (I am sooooo jealous !!).

Have a wonderful weekend, take care, Meow

Nicole ... don't forget to slip, slop, slap ... this Aussie sun of ours is nasty !! I can also think of nothing nicer than to play in the sun, sand and surf. You guys have got it made ... you can pretty much go to the beach all year around. The beach in winter here in Melbourne is not so pleasant. Good for a photo, however ... must do that !!
Thanks again, Nicole.
Take care, Meow xx

Hi Meow, thanks for visit and comment at peters pictures, close as I can get the photo of the Lions Den would have been in 1991, so plenty of time for some changes.
Nice poem, sounds very Melbourne, we spent 15 years at Maryborough, very cold nights but usually nice days during winter there.

Your poem: what's really funny to us over here is that our seasons are exactly the opposite. Here we're heading to summer and fun and sand and beaches and there you're plunging into another winter. One of my bridesmaids from my ill-fated wedding lives in Australia. She met an Australian and settled down in Sydney until a divorce caused her to move a smidge (I think she's on the outskirts now). When you share kids, you get stuck where you lived. I miss her!

Thanks for sharing all your postcards, I do enjoy them!

I was reading your poem and imagining the feelings of Autumn and then I my senses got all confused...Seasons are above all...a feeling, I suppose.

I loved the three weeks we spent in QLD and NSW. These type beaches were part of the reason. Three weeks is TOO little time to even see the East Coast of your country, let alone the WHOLE thing! ~ Thanks for you nice comments on my blog! ~ jb///

A great poem, Meow!

That is a nice poem. You can now get the feeling we in the northern hemispere had reading your blog posts and dreaming of summer while we were in our winter back in Jan & Feb. Although I have to admit that I didn't fare too badly what with being in Arizona for our winter!

It's gorgeous here right now, Meow. Sunny, a light breeze and 75 degrees Fahrenheit. I don't know what that translates to in Celsius. It's been stormy and rainy for over a week and this is the first nice day with no rain in about 8 days. It's also almost 5 pm on Friday evening, while it's well into your Saturday morning.

Hope you have a great weekend, and thanks for the cheery poem. :-)

I must share that poem with Alex the cat, who avoids water in any form, including rain.

Peter ... thanks. I loved the Lions Den Hotel ... I will have to show you some pictures how it looks now. Melbourne in Winter can be glorious ... yesterday was awful, but today is fabulous ... sunshine and blue sky again ... cool, though.

Saurkraut ... it's a shame you don't get to be with your friend more often. And the seasons being opposite is too weird. I guess, during our Summer, you guys were wishing it was yours, as I was taunting your with all my sunshiney photos ... now you all can do it back !!!

Megz Mum ... I'm glad you are enjoying them ... I am working on putting them all together on one blog ... takes time, with blogger being so slow with uploading pictures, but Photobucket doesn't let me do what I want to do, so it will take time !!

Devil Mood ... I guess seasons are a feeling, and we make of them what we will. If we choose to be down on Winter, we will be ... if we choose to be happy in Winter, we will be ... works for me, anyway.

LZ blogger ... nooo, 3 weeks is nowhere near enough to see even a tiny smidgeon of this country. I agree, the East Coast beaches are gorgeous, although we have some pretty amazing ones down here in Victoria, too.

Connie ... thank you, and I'm glad they make you smile ... I try !!

Reverberate ... I agree, I prefer it to rain at night ... nothing worse than having to be running around, doing stuff, in the cold rain. We haven't really had much, but yesterday was a bugger of a day !!

PJ ... glad to hear it. Catch ya later !

Jean-Luc ... thank you.

Dick ... thank you. You guys must have hated me rubbing it in with our beautiful summer weather. I guess you can all do it back at me now !!!

Diane ... oooh, enjoy that beautiful weather. I hope it continues for you. Spring is a wonderful time of year.

Nick ... Ok, hope he enjoys it !!

Clare ... thank you, and I am so glad ... that's what it is all about, making people smile !!

Chloe ... I know what you mean. Our worlds are totally the opposite ... when it is Winter here, it is Summer with you, when it is night time here, it is day time with you ... oh well, what a topsy turvy world we live in !!!

Thank you, my friends, for all your wonderful comments.
I hope you all have a fabulous weekend.
Take care, Meow

Hi Meow,

Hi Meow ~~ Loved your poem and it fits our current weather.
Thanks for your comments, and yes I had a great time with my son & d-i-l
They went to Bonnie Doon about a month ago & said there was not a lot of water in the dam. So we need more rain. Take care, Merle.

Pretty places in that post card. I would really love to come to Australia some day and spend a whole month there, travelling to the various parts. It would be a dream vacation for sure!

It is so odd to be reading about your weather being cool and soon to be cold. We are heading into summer before long, and it is already quite warm and humid here. It will be hot and humid once summer gets here.

I Love your poem...

aww, its almost summer here..I am not bragging, but its dang nice out..haha

I need to move there in my winter and you need to move here durring your winter..does that sound like a plan?

True Blue Guy ... thank you, you too !!

Janice ... thank you. It is now Sunday, we had a reprieve from the rain yesterday, but it has been raining non-stop all night. Oh well, we really need it.

Merle ... thank you. Yes, Lake Eildon is way-low ... only around 20% ... so we really do need this rain, and lots more.

Jamie ... not too long ago we were basking in hot summer, now it's your turn ... it really is a topsy turvy world, isn't it !

Skyeblue ... that's ok, everyone has busy times where they can't regularly blog. Part of life. I've been a bit slack, too !! Nice to see you again.

Bossy Britches ... thank you. Hey, that sounds like a good idea!!

Thanks everyone, hope your weekend is going well.

Take care, Meow

dpI wish it would rain. Florida is just so hot. Not use to this weather at all, can't wait to get back from West Virginia. I'm sending your post card from Florida on Monday when I do my errands and you'll also get one from West Virginia at the end of the month when I go back there.

You could sell some of your little poems. Greeting card companies pay for this kind of stuff.

funny poem, Meow!
And so odd to hear about winter coming when our summer is on it's way...

Meow (aka Connie) said...

Angel ... I envy you the heat at the moment ... it it sooooo cold here today. Your postcard is on it's way.

Jenn ... thanks for the idea, I've often thought about doing just that, but they're probably not really good enough.

Cathy ... thank you. Yep, our Winter is on it's way. We just had hail, and it is very cold today.

Hope your weekend is going well.
Take care, Meow

Would like to have a little of the rain that you are experiencing now cause it's 35 degrees celsius over here.

Yes, I had a very fun-filled weekend.

Susie ... yep, an open fire would be nice. I agree ... Winter is a time to relax and renew !!

Viamarie ... I will share some rain if you share some warm weather !!

Take care, Meow
